On porcelain tubs, Premier uses a very safe and effective acid solution to make the finish on your tub long lasting. Premier is dedicated to giving our customers the most durable finish available.

At a workshop in 1997, hosted by a coatings manufacturer, we were told that a wipe-on primer is "good enough". Premier has used a terrific wipe-on primer (adhesion promoter) since day one. But we wanted to go beyond "good enough" to give our customers the "Premier Advantage". We seized an opportunity during a break and spoke to their head chemist. We asked him one simple question, "what can we do to give the longest lasting finish?" His response was, "Use acid to etch along with a wipe on primer."

This industry is driven by faster, cheaper, easier and fewer steps. Most refinishers do not acid etch because it takes longer, requires more supplies and training for employees. Premier is dedicated to giving our customers the most durable finish available, which requires more steps. We use only 4 oz. of acid, which stays on for less than 10 minutes and is then neutralized. There is no mess, and it is safe for septic systems, flooring, plumbing, people and puppies! The acid etch process is important to the life of your tub. Etching dulls the finish to give a stronger grip for the top coat (like sanding wood before painting). Etching is the best cleaner and stain remover, and etching is required when using our high-build spray-on primer. Each tub gets two coats of primer, which also covers many scratches. This along with our wipe-on primer, allow us to "double prime" your tub. The "Premier Advantage" allows us to extend our warranty from the industry standard of five years, to seven years. With acid etching and double priming, your tub will have the longest lasting finish. At Premier, we want to do more than "rent a finish".
